The agricultural wealth of La Rioja is immense. Each corner offers a world to discover, a small example of the agricultural and livestock variety of a region that for two years has seen its greatest exponents recognized in the Field Awards, organized by Diario LA RIOJA and Bankia. The contest reached its third edition this year, once again finding projects, initiatives and protagonists that are a great example of the agricultural potential of Rioja. Among all of them, the winners this year have been Eva María González Sarramián, Ganados Macuto, Alexander Junquera, Javier Madrigal, Campomiel and Nuez de Pedroso.
The previous two editions served to highlight some of the benchmarks in our field, but there is still much to discover and a long way to go, as José Antonio del Río, president of the jury, explains: «This year there has been so much the number of applications as well as their quality, promoted by previous editions. The decision to choose the winners therefore becomes increasingly difficult. This response encourages us to maintain the continuity of the Field Awards ».
Ganados Macuto was the winner in the Cooperatives and Companies category, recognized as a benchmark in the Riojan sheep sector, adding more than fifty thousand head of sheeps between Bañares and Arenzana. As a family business that in recent years has made progress in animal welfare issues and continues to position itself in large-scale distribution.
